The thing that makes the difference between Kahrs wood flooring and any other competitor in the market today is that Kahrs are here to stay. In their 150 years, they have seen companies come and go and they will no doubt see many more fall as quickly as they rise. Kahrs though still battle on largely because they know their customer and they know how to operate in a world market. Add that to their level of wood knowledge and you’ll soon see for yourself why Kahrs are the best at what they do.
The design of their wood flooring takes in to account every possible eventuality that could have an effect on its quality. Their solid boards for instance are made up of multiple layers so that it can provide stability where others would warp during seasonal variations. This means that the floor will always stay level and so the life of the floor is dramatically increased.
Secondly, the quality of the top layer is such that it can be sanded and a new finish applied at least twice during the life of the floor. You can actually take the surface down until it is level with the tongue and groove joint. So depending on what sort of sanding machine you use, you may be able to refinish the surface many times.
Kahrs wood floors also come with three different surface finishes for you to decide on. There is the silk matt lacquer, matt lacquer and the nature oil. While each of the finishes will bring out the natural beauty of the wood, you will find that each has its own plus points. They all have their own feel and will add a very slightly different look to the wood. The lacquers are very low maintenance and so is the oil but with the oil you would need to put a little wax on occasionally.
Kahrs woodloc 5S design is revolutionary for wood floors in that it uses a crocodile teeth-like joint that makes installation much quicker. The final installed product is also around 25% stronger than previous designs of flooring which makes it a longer lasting product. The teeth actually minimise any week points in the jointing system.
There are lots of innovations within each Kahrs wood flooring board and it really isn’t something you would normally think of as needing much thought. Unless you have been in the manufacturing and use of wood for as long as Kahrs then many problems would be overlooked. It often takes a year or two for some of the problems with traditional floorings to arise and by that time less well equipped companies have folded.
